I remember reading through Googles early translations with the actors. Therefore it felt natural to add other elements of chance to the performance, such as the blind draw, in which the audience helped to determine which looped scenes would be used in a particular performance.
Later, as I learned more about how machine translation works, I understood that there was nothing random about the algorithmic processes themselves. No matter how mystifying a particular translation could be, it was not the result of any blind lottery.
This appearance or impression of randomness, however, was so strong that it had a mighty effect on how the performance was perceived and experienced.
